Fundraising Deadline: October 7th
All participants who raise $100 or more for the Heart Walk receive an official Heart Walk t-shirt. Walkers who raise over $250 are also eligible for additional Thank You Gifts.

Jodi Herte: My Heart Story

Heart disease affected my life early and deeply as I watched it take the lives of my parents and older brother. Although I knew i was prone to heart disease, I had the thought that it wouldn't happen to me. I made goals to not end up like them. My husband Keith and I eat healthy and we remain active enjoying what Alaska has to, camping, snow machining, etc. We also have a persistent husky, Kiska, who is a great adventurer keeping us motivated to keep moving.

In 2006 I started to feel a bit sluggish during our neighborhood walks and Keith suggested that I might just be out of shape. After all, I was getting older! I consulted with a trainer and she suggested I get checked out with a doctor before I start any sort of exercise program. That was when I was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy.  Read more
