Dear Start! Heart and Stroke Walk Participants,

Thank you for another incredible year! You are truly the best Start! Heart and Stroke Walk supporters in the nation and we are on our way to raising $500,000. The American Heart Association is proud to partner with each of you in our efforts to build healthier lives in our community, free from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. We can not express our gratitude. Thank you!

Heart and Stroke Walk Prize Deadline is November 17

Yes, there is still time to bring in contributions and any donations collected until November 17th will count towards your Start! Heart and Stroke Walk prize totals. Your supporters can still make a credit card contribution on your personal webpage or give a cash or check donation. Check out the great prizes for this year’s walk under the ‘Particiant Info’ tab on the left side of this website.

Who is Inspiring Us?

As we close another wonderful year, we are reminded of why each of us supports the Heart and Stroke Walk and the lives we touch. Here at the American Heart Association, we have the honor of meeting many individuals whose lives have been changed by the research and education funded by the donations of individuals like you. This year, we have had the pleasure of getting to know a very special lady.

Lisa Hopkins from Salemtowne Retirement Community is an inspiration to us all. Through exercise and better eating habits, she is becoming healthier every day. Lisa was able to participate in the Walk this year for the first time. We applaud her accomplishments and hope she inspires you as much as she has inspired us! She is a remarkable individual that has chosen to live a healthier lifestyle. Congratulations Lisa and thank you for sharing your story with us.

Since 1924 the American Heart Association has helped protect people of all ages and ethnicities from the ravages of heart disease and stroke. These diseases, the Nation's No.1 and No.3 killers, claim more than 910,000 American lives a year. The association invested more than $543 million in fiscal year 2005-06 for research, professional and public education, and advocacy so people across America can live stronger, longer lives.

Thanks to all our walkers, donors and volunteers who have accepted the challenge to help fight heart disease and stroke. We cannot achieve our mission without each one of you!
