Meet Sister Heart Survivors
McKenzee Lane and Madyson Taylor

McKenzee Lane was born Sep 27, 2004 at Abilene Regional Medical Center. She went home and at one week old she was unable to eat and was hospitalized. Dr Elvira Garcia ordered an echocardiogram that showed the main artery coming out of McKenzee's heart was too narrow. She was flown to Dallas and had surgery that same day. After her first Christmas with her family, the artery had narrowed again and she had to have a procedure to open it back up. Today McKenzee is an active 4 year old girl, getting ready to celebrate her 5th birthday. "Kenzee" is a cheerleader for a local tag football team, The Vikings. She enjoys playing outside with her younger sister, Madyson.

Madyson Taylor was the perfect gift for Christmas, born on Christmas day last year. At Madyson's 2 week check up she had a murmur. She will return every six months, to see if the hole will close on its own, or if she will need it repaired later on. Madyson is currently a very busy 8 month old who went from crawling to furniture "cruising" in a week. Bath time is her favorite time of day. Her favorite hobby is sneaking into big sister Kenzee's room to play.

Since 1924 the American Heart Association has helped protect people of all ages and ethnicities from the ravages of heart disease and stroke. These diseases, the Nation's No.1 and No.3 killers, claim more than 910,000 American lives a year. The association invested more than $543 million in fiscal year 2005-06 for research, professional and public education, and advocacy so people across America can live stronger, longer lives.

Thanks to all our walkers, donors and volunteers who have accepted the challenge to help fight heart disease and stroke. We cannot achieve our mission without each one of you!
