We want to thank everyone that participated in the 2009 Start! Ventura County Heart Walk Event. We couldn't have done it without you! We raised $80,000 and 450 people attended the walk.
About the Start! Ventura County Heart Walk
The Start! Heart Walk is a 5K fitness walk that brings together companies to fight heart disease and stroke. Although you can register to walk as an individual, we recommend you join a team at your company. It provides friendly competition and a reason to get fit and train for the walk. It also creates a reason to band together with your co-workers for a common cause.
The Benefits of Walking In addition to raising money for lifesaving research and programs, you’ll also help your company and co-workers live happier, healthier, longer lives.
Increase company pride. Surveys show that over 90 percent of employees feel proud if their company supports an important outside cause.
Build skills. Volunteer work can help you hone skills you can use at home and on the job. These include leadership, decisionmaking, problem-solving, time management, negotiating, networking and goal-setting.
Shine in the community. Supporting the Start! Heart Walk can help enhance community relations. Many companies print T-shirts for their walkers to display their spirit and raise their company profile.
