February is American Heart Month

Mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts — everyday women are dying at the rate of almost one per minute. Speak up and make a difference! Show your support by wearing red on Friday, February 5th, National Wear Red Day. It’s an easy and powerful way to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Start! your team and brainstorm for early fundraising for your Heart Walk team and get ahead of cardiovascular disease by building healthier lives! All your donations from National Wear Red Day will not only support your team but will also specifically fund the Go Red For Women Campaign.

    Did you know?
  • - Stress and depression are more likely to damage the hearts of women than men. Love your heart. Have fun!
  • - Women experience different types of symptoms associated with heart problems than men, for example, unusual fatigue, abdominal, neck, shoulder or upper back pain, nausea, vomiting and shortness of breath than men during a heart attack. Check your heart!
  • - Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States.
    Help your heart:
  • - Eating a well-balanced diet, exercising regularly and avoiding smoking throughout your life can significantly lower your risk of developing heart disease.
  • - Walking for as little as thirty minutes a day can reduce your risk for stroke, improve cholesterol, and reduce high blood pressure.
  • - Almond’s magnesium and potassium help lower you cholesterol reducing the risk of heart disease by 30%
