Meet Amanda

Good morning everyone, my name is Amanda Simpson. I am 26 years old.
It’s with joy, pride, and humility, that I come to you today to enlist your support for the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk.

On May 9th, 2009 I was blessed to give birth to a 9 pound 6 ounce baby girl Jayden. During my 7th month of pregnancy University of Kentucky’s pediatric cardiologist Dr. Louis Bezold performed a fetal echo cardiogram and discovered both Jayden’s left and right ventricles were pumping in a sluggish manner. After weekly monitoring I was told that once she was born she would be taken to the neo natal intensive care unit, to undergo a full heart evaluation. The fear in my heart was overwhelming. At that point, constant prayers continued while waiting for her arrival.

The American Heart Association is the largest voluntary health organization working to prevent, treat and defeat heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. These diseases, the Nation's No.1 and No.3 killers, claim more than 865,000 American lives a year. Thanks to all our walkers, donors and volunteers who have accepted the challenge to help fight heart disease and stroke. We cannot achieve our mission without each one of you!
