Many of us know someone who has been impacted by heart disease or stroke. In fact, heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women in Stark County, the state of Ohio and in the United States overall. Stroke is the number three cause of death and the number one cause of disability. The American Heart Association's mission is to reduce the impact of heart disease and stroke by 25% by the year 2010. You can help us achieve this ambitious goal by raising funds in the Start! Stark County Heart Walk. You can make a difference!

You're Making a Difference. Since 1924 the American Heart Association has helped protect people of all ages and ethnicities from the ravages of heart disease and stroke. These diseases, the Nation's No.1 and No.3 killers, claim more than 910,000 American lives a year. The association invested more than $474 million in fiscal year 2004-05 for research, professional and public education, and advocacy so people across America can live stronger, longer lives.
